The land was planted with wine grapes in the late 1800s, but the vineyards eventually succumbed to Prohibition. Agriculture was restored to the Valley in the late 1990s with the planting of new vines. The Hayes Valley is an ideal climate for growing grapescool, foggy nights followed by warm sunny days.
