This charming papier-mâché sculpture of Asian girl and lion-dog I believe is mid-century Japanese

which lends itself to the display of a couple of small sprigs or something significantly more dramatic

and aside from a couple tiny losses to her left shoulder on the exterior

On the reverse is carved what I assume was the date of its making

Wonderfully (and to my eye very lovingly) painted yellow bands over the red on the stem at both ends as well as on the cork body of the float, and then this beautifully carved ring bead near the end, red with a yellow stripes around the perimeter.
