inclusion of any of the navigation receivers seemed to be inconsistent with the general rule for the fight deck - "Everything should be useful

This trooper, not officer, clearly served probably more than 20 years in the Royal Marines starting in the early 1930's and ending in the 1950's. Clearly he saw WW2 and very possibly the Korean War also and yet we do not know
