is signed at the bottom but I am uncertain of its maker

So when I spotted this and one other of her prints at an antiques shop recently

The piece has been sewn onto metal dowels for hanging--exposed at the top (giving it a sort of medieval quality) and enclosed at the bottom

and on and around the bottom of the basket (as well as peeking through in a few spots through the woven sweetgrass) have been dyed red

I assume with his bald head, long beard, and colorful kimono, that he represents a Buddhist monk but I really have no idea of his age, and have not found another quite like him. He is certainly quite finely painted and feels to me like a pretty special little piece and surely perching him
