Description

I do not know whence this came

Really a special thing

Not especially fancy but I must say this is one of the most beautiful carved whimsies I've ever seen due to the elongated shape of the two "balls" in their cages and most of all the incredible alligatoring of the white paint

There were commercially made boxes made for this purpose

Done by a Barbara Lewis 1930s or so I would guess

Tiny House, 19th C. Naive Graphite Drawing print stamp I do not know whenceJust the sort of little folk drawing I love, tiny but teeming with life, with a whole lot of personality to each of those trees, to say nothing of the very animated house! Found in PA, and sure feels like a portrait of a specific house to me. Paper: 4 1 8" x 3 1 4". drawing area: 2 3 4" x 2". Uneven size and rough bottom edge as evident; paper not fragile.
