Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from a magnetic metal chain with a loop for button suspension, the obverse of the disc bearing a stamped number 54, circumscribed by an inscription of BAHNKRIMINALPOLIZEI ESSEN (RAILWAY CRIMINAL POLICE ESSEN), the reverse bearing a raised Bahnschutzpolizei (Railway Protection Police) insignia in the form of a winged wheel overlaying a radiant star, unmarked,
