Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward facing profile of King Friedrich Wilhelm III, circumscribed by name and title and topped by a star indicating a first pattern award, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of FR RETTUNG AUS GEFAHR
