Instituted 18 May 1831 by King Anton and Regent Friedrich August. (1905 1918 issue). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised rightward facing profile of King Friedrich August III, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central inscription of FR LEBENS RETTUNG (FOR RESCUE OF LIFE), within a circular oak leaf wreath,
